Welcome to World Message Exchange

Welcome to World Message Exchange (WME). We're glad you've come to visit our World Wide Web Site.

WME is a very friendly EchoNet. We do not have an overabundance of rules. We are a net that encourages freedom of expression and good fellowship without holding a big hammer over everyone's heads.

Like many networks, WME is hierarchical. The heart and soul of WME is its one main HUB. The main hub is run on a computer that's dedicated strictly to WME mail traffic. All of the hub equipment has been donated by members of the network. WME does not charge a membership fee, does not collect dues, it's entirely free. All costs are on the individual sysop.

WME is a small-to-medium sized net consisting of approximately 150-200 member boards.

The success of WME is its users.....it's a friendly and very helpful net.

Additional Information

As the summer took it's toll on BBS' everywhere, the Co-Team was busy plugging away at things. We now have the new guidelines in place, after a member vote. These guidelines will help us lead the net in the future, and will enable the Co-Team and Net Members more ability to handle any problems that may arise.

Current projects in the working stage are:

1. Cropping the current conference list. Many conferences are old and are no longer being used and are just adding to the cost of sysops calling long distance. Soon, you will see some conferences disappear, while others may combined into like-subjects to create a stronger message base.

2. We are still working on a method of transferring packets via FTN as well as the InterNet. Check this page often for news about Internet-Based WME Mail routing.

3. As of May 1, 1997 we released a new Information Package, and are starting an "advertising blitz." Our goal will be to bring some new blood into the network, from both the United States and abroad.

As you can see, many great and exciting things are happening, and we would love to have you join us. A copy of the our information package is available for download. This package has just been released, tho it may contain an older FTN nodelist, but that is presently being updated. This info packet will give you an idea of who and what we are. Feel free to download it, and contact WME if you are interested.

The WME Logo Contest !

The contest has long been ended ended, and the results are shown on all official WME pages. I would like to thank the three people who spent their time, and effort to create logos for this contest. Don Sausa, Peter Lazenby, and Allisa Harvey all deserve our thanks.

The winner was Don Sausa and he did a few modification so as to better fit the page. Soon you will see this notification gone from this page, with a credit and hyperlink to Don's Page.
